Salento, the oldest town in Quindío, is the site that attracts the most tourists in the Coffee Region. Located in the central mountain range, this colorful town with a population of 8,100 inhabitants is the gateway to the Cocora Valley, an emblematic territory where the National Tree of Colombia is located: La Palma de Cera del Quindio.

Progressively, Parque del Café has grown in attractions, which has made it the main theme park in Colombia, and one of the most important in South America. Thanks to the Coffee Park, the tourist development of Quindío and the Coffee Region is largely due.

The name Filandia has its origins in Latin and means “‘Daughter of the Andes.” Its colorful streets, climate, and the friendliness of its people encourage you to walk through it, stop in time and drink a delicious Colombian coffee, and buy some of the most beautiful crafts in the coffee region.

In Panaca, visitors will be able to learn about the different agricultural stations that we find in the Colombian countryside. You can visit among others; The Livestock Station; Poultry Station, Pig Farming Station, Equine Station, Dog Station, and minor species. Each one with different exhibitions and shows.

Valle del Cocora is considered, along with the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a mandatory point of visit for the vast majority of international visitors that Colombia receives. In these lands, difficult to access due to the topography, the horse has historically been the means of transportation. This noble animal, along with donkeys and mules, has helped people carry coffee and manage the estates that we now see modernized and open to tourism.

However, equine bonds have remained and will remain forever in this landscape, as horses are a fundamental part of the cultural relations and traditions of this environment.

Nowadays, riding is done more for pleasure than for work. The Coffee Cultural Landscape offers a large number of beautiful horses for traversing difficult mountain trails, paths, and roads, allowing visitors to enjoy the landscapes and the activities typical of the rural inhabitants.

Horseback rides can be taken through coffee farms. Numerous places offer this service, where you can ride from one to eight hours, depending on the chosen trail. The Cocora Valley, near the municipality of Salento, is a special place for these rides on the mountain slopes, under the wax palms, crossing streams, with the opportunity to see beautiful birds. This activity can be done without prior experience, as the instructors are responsible for teaching, and there are animals available that pose no danger to visitors.
